The Pre-Diploma (Science) programme, initially known as Pre-Science (Pra-Sains) started in ITM Sarawak in July 1992 with a pioneer batch of fifty-five students. The programme was introduced to help Bumiputera students from the science stream, as well as to enable those who possess the necessary qualifications to further their studies at the tertiary level. The programme also aims to prepare and better equip the students before they join the Science and Technology (S & T) based diploma programmes. The programme was specifically established to cater for the students who do not qualify to go straight to diploma/matriculation as well as to give a second opportunity to the students to go for their dream ambition. The duration of the study is one to two semesters. In this programme, the students are exposed to basic courses such as Basic Mathematics, Chemistry, Physic, Biology and English Language. With the introduction of Mengubah Destini Anak Bangsa (MDAB) program, Pre-Diploma (Science) has been rebranded and put under MDAB. The program code was then changed to PD007. The students who are offered under MDAB are waived from paying any fees and are given monthly allowance. The selection of students to be put under this program depends on the income of the family. For those students who do not qualify for this programme will be put under normal Pre-Diploma Science with the programme code of PD008.

Starting from November 2013, the program is back to be conducted over 5 semester (2 1/2 years). This program emphasizes on strengthening the knowledge of students in Science and Mathematics. The Diploma in Industrial Chemistry (DIC), is a three year programme with its main focus to turn the students into multi-skilled graduates with good personal traits and knowledge. With the establishment of Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE), the demand for semi-skilled graduates in Sarawak has grown remarkably. Due to this, the DIC programme was further expanded to UiTM Sarawak in Jun 2013 with its first intake of twenty-one students. The introduction of this programme in UiTM Sarawak is very significant in order to cater for the growing demand from the chemical industries particularly in the sectors of petrochemicals, polymers, upstream and downstream of petroleum and gas, specialty chemicals and oleochemicals. Some of the courses taken by the students in this programme are organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry and analytical chemistry. Apart from these, the students also will take some basic courses in Chemical Engineering namely Unit Operation, Process Control, Industrial Process, Fluid Mechanic, Heat Transfer and Thermodynamic. The students of this program also will attend a three-month industrial training which will further expose them to the industrial workplace and environment. The industrial training will give more experience and value-added advantage to the students, to prepare them for the working world. This three-year diploma programme offers students to venture into the application of science and technology in all processes of producing food from raw materials. They are given freedom to choose their area of interest in doing their final year project based on electrical and electronics concept.
The profession of chemical engineers uses the knowledge of mathematics and natural sciences gained through study and practical experience and this knowledge is applied through analysis and design to solve problems as well as to develop processes and systems for the benefits of mankind. To help the chemical engineers in the chemical industries, a large number of skilled technical personnel are very much required. Realising this need, we designed a curriculum towards the conferment of the Diploma in Chemical Engineering. The first intake of students in Universiti Teknologi MARA Sarawak began in 2007. This programme also is offered at the UiTM Pasir Gudang, Johor and UiTM Bukit Besi, Terengganu campuses. This is a three (3) year programme which consists of six (6) semesters. For final semester, students are required to undergo the industrial training to complete their Diploma programme. The engineering courses are structured into three categories namely concepts and theories, humanity and liberalisation as well as competency and skills courses.

The nursing programme strives to educate caring, humane, competent, professional nurses who are able to adapt innovatively to technological advances in the ever-changing health care of the nation through regularly updating the curriculum, learning and teaching methodology. The graduates should be able to promote, maintain and restore health, and prevent diseases in the community; provide quality, effective and comprehensive nursing care using nursing process; apply the skills of management when planning and implementing health care services; accountable for all nursing practices as stipulated by the Nurses' Act; participate as a competent team; teach health care to individuals, families and community and encourage them to take responsibility for their own health; establish, facilitate and maintain good interpersonal relationship with patients, families, community and fellow workers; develop self-awareness and commitment to lifelong professional development; develop interest for career advancement into nursing subspecialties, hospital management, and teaching in educational programmes. The programme also provides a lot of hands on for students to acquire technical and practical skills in exercise setting. Graduates from this programme are expected to meet demands from sport and health related industries in the country or at least to provide a firm foundation for the students should they pursue for Bachelor degree.
The centre of studies for Quantity Surveying is one of the pioneering centre of studies established at faculty. The centre of studies currently conducts two programmes - Diploma in Quantity Surveying (DQS) and Bachelor of Quantity Surveying (BQS). To date, more than 5,000 diploma students and over 2,000 degree students have graduated from these programmes. The 3-year diploma is conducted on a full-time basis. It currently has a total number of about 1,300 students in the branch campuses of Seri Iskandar, Perak and Kota Samarahan, Sarawak. Since 2003, the student intakes for the bachelor programme have been steadily increasing and the department is gearing to have a yearly enrolment of 200 students. On average, 75% to 80% of UiTM Diploma in Quantity Surveying holders proceeds for the bachelor in quantity surveying in local universities and abroad. Some pursue their first-degree in recognized universities in United Kingdom and Australia with advance entry into the second or third year of a 3-year or 4-year bachelor programme. Diploma in Quantity Surveying is recognized by the Malaysian Government.
The Department of Building is one of the earliest departments formed under the school of Architecture, Planning and Surveying (now, known as Faculty of Architecture, Planning and Surveying) at the same time with the establishment of MARA Institute of Technology in 1967. The department has since produced more than 3500 graduates at the Diploma level. The 3-year Diploma programme is conducted on a full-time basis in UiTM Seri Iskandar, Perak and UiTM Kota Samarahan, Sarawak. 1. Interdisciplinary program curricula include basic learning in health sciences, engineering, mathematics and physical and social sciences. It is able to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the health hazards in the environment and to equip them with the ability to measure, evaluate and apply the methods of controlling the hazards. The scope of the course includes food hygiene, vector control and rodents, infectious disease investigations, public healthcare facilities, public recreation facilities, solid waste management, water supply and sewerage systems, occupational safety and health and environmental pollution. 2. This program is relevant to the current needs to address environmental health and occupational safety issues which are now seriously taken care of by the government and the public. With legislative requirements such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1994, the Environmental Quality Act 1974, this program can meet the requirements of the legislation. 3. Full-time study with six semesters in a total minimum duration of three years. 4. The centre started playing its major role in educating adult learners dated back from 1973 when UiTM (previously known as ITM) started venturing into off-campus educational programs. The external Education Centre was established in 1990 with the aim to provide opportunities for working adults to further and obtain a quality tertiary education. In order to keep abreast with the current needs for global education, the centre was rebranded by the name of Institute of NEO Education (iNED) University Teknologi MARA, focussing on providing innovative educational approach to working adults.

The Academy of Language Studies (ALS) or Akademi Pengajian Bahasa (APB) was established in 1972 for the purpose of co-ordinating the learning and teaching of English as a Second Language (ESL), as well as that of other Asian and European languages to all the students of UiTM. With the setting up of this nerve centre, UiTM’s language curriculum was formulated to cater for the ever-growing number of students who need to be proficient not only in the English language, but also in a third language. The third languages which are offered at this moment are Mandarin and Arabic. This language competency gives UiTM students a competitive edge in the job market.
The main role of Office of International Affairs is to support Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and its international relationship with leading universities, institutions and organizations via its strategic initiatives. Its functions include but is not limited to : Initiate and facilitate bilateral and multilateral linkages and partnership with renowned institutions worldwide; Facilitate and monitor all activities conducted as per the MoU or MoA with international partners; Facilitates student and staff mobility programs, both inbound and outbound, research collaborations and other academic initiatives in partnership with leading institutions worldwide; Support coherent corporate strategy to enhance UiTM's international relations and expand its global profile to meet the demands of a dynamic academia industry; Advice issues pertaining to visa application, immigration and other relevant documentation's, students’ safety, university and non-residential accommodation; Facilitate language proficiency, if deemed necessary through the UiTM Academy of Language Studies; Facilitate culture adaptation and other issues of common concern to international students; Compile and update UiTM's data depository of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with international partners.
