Project Title Research Methodology Digital Literacy Tools (RM-DiLiTOOL)
Project Category Innovation
Abstract Methodology is the research methods that are used for different procedures of data collection, calculation, and analysis in the research, along with the justification for using specific methods. Inevitably, research methodology is the scientific approach to the research carried out by the researcher. However, the needs to understand methodology in research is not a one-off process. Researcher may spend hours to search suitable readings and sources to identify topics of interest, intense literature readings and preparing thesis proposal and thesis writing. It is also noted that a researcher needs a digital literacy skills in exploring the suitable methodology for their research. Preparing research thesis or dissertation is also a partial requirement for university students in completing their studies. Hence, it is undoubted that “mastering” the research methodology is the hardest part of the whole process of research. The students need to undergo an analytical reading in the specific research interest area helps to identify the research issues, problems and research gap that needs further exploration. Therefore, Research Methodology Digital Literacy Tools (RM-DiLiTool) is established as a one-stop center and created as a platform to help the students to understand the tentative steps in research process and research methodology in a wider perspective. RM-DiLiTool is created in a digital mind-map diagram where the students able to access the tentative process in developing research; starting from searching topics, literature search engines, referencing management, methodology approach, thesis proposal and thesis writing. RM-DiLiTool offers a guiding principle of interdependent skills on compliance to the steps and process of research methodology and cultivating necessity on digital literacy skills. It is hoped that the application of RM-DiLiTool able to enhance the teaching and learning ambience of research methodology subjects to the university students
