In this rapid electronic technology development, the information had received
a great impact on how it transfers and
transform. Since then, mobile information has received a lot of attention in
recent years as a growing segment of
the educational and industrial technology field. Mobile information, e-
information (e-electronics) or i-information (i-
integrated), can be defined as any information interaction delivered through
mobile technology and accessed at a
public's convenience from any location. Nevertheless, the construction
industry is always related to information
interaction. It involves all different parties from client, consultants, contractors,
and they must synchronise with
machines-materials and progress on site. Without adequate and proper
channeling, the information among man
and tools, it will create loses to the client and delay on progress. One of the
important construction information is
Public Work Department (PWD) Standard Form of Contract. It is a printed
form pre-prepared contract which legally
binding between two parties, the Employer and the Contractor. It provides a
detail legal framework identifying the
rights, obligations and duties of the parties; establish the ambit of the powers
and duties of the contract
administrative procedures. This Standard Form of Contract also being taught
in the University and learned by the
students, especially in Quantity Surveying field, to administer the construction
contract. Currently, the PWD contract
only in printed documents which consist of 54 pages and it’s a necessary
document that needs to be read and
understand by construction parties and building-construction related
academician and students. Unlike electronic
information, printed papers must be searched manually, takes up space,
prone to damage, editing problems, higher
supply cost and poor environmental credentials. Through i-PWD innovation it
will integrate interaction on PWD
issues, instant access via online and offline, direct search on desire clauses,
interactive features such as easy
understand-interesting graphics, examples on each contract matters,
increased security and reduced cost. These
applications have also been developed to work with other, existing authority
technologies such as Jabatan Kerja
Raya (JKR) information management system and CIDB all by way of i-PWD
technology.
