Abstract |
Most courses offered by the institute of higher learning (IHL) in Malaysia are
carefully coordinated using the outcome-based approach where certain
learning outcomes will indicate the attainment of the students at the program
level. In the assessment activities, students demonstrate their level of
achievement of the course learning outcomes and aligned with the
appropriate program-level learning outcomes. A typical assessment
coversheet template will basically have the students and assessment details.
However, with the outcome-based approach the assessment coversheet
needs to be design accordingly where the course outcomes (CO) and
program outcomes (PO) are addressed for each question or task. The
assessment coversheet template also will portray the level of difficulty for
each question or task depending on the domain (cognitive, psychomotor and
affective) which are assessed. In the light this, a system called INTEGRATED
OBE ASSESSMENT COVERSHEET SYSTEM (iOBEACS) is an innovation to
standardize the assessment coversheet with outcome-based evaluation
aligned with the COPO and level of difficulty. The system is develop using is
the Microsoft Excel program where it is known as a friendly organizer for all
types of data, numeric and textual. The system will allow users to select the
course and assessment type (test, assignment, laboratory report/task). The
expected outcome is a comprehensive assessment coversheet ready to be
utilized by the students for their submission of work. The assessment
coversheet will reduce the inconsistency between different lecturers teaching
the course where they have to design their own assessment coversheet
especially when addressing the different COPO that are stated in each course
syllabus. Hence, all aspects of teaching and learning including the
assessment coversheet should be inclusive for the clarity of what is being
assessed by the program. This system is in line with the university’s direction
to promote Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) in teaching and learning
activities. |
