Awarding the best student in Program Kepimpinan Pewaris Bangsa (PKPB) is
one of the incentive initiated by management at UiTM Cawangan Sarawak,
Kampus Mukah to identify potential students that possess a leadership skill,
whom, may subsequently develop and enhance this skill which is useful as
well as contributes to the future of society, religion, race and nation. However,
there is no systematic measurement to evaluate students’ leadership
competencies during the selection of the best candidate for PKPB in current
practice. The panels / evaluators / assessors will discuss in a meeting and
express their judgement in linguistic form such as poor, bad, average, good,
very good and excellent. Often, this conventional method is subjective and
leads to tie and time consuming since different panels / evaluators / assessors
might have different point of view and opinions. This decision-making become
more complicated as it is when there are many aspects need to be
considered. Therefore, development of a more systematic approach is
significant to measure and help in deciding for the best recipient for the award
in PKPB, in which it is able to mimic human logical sense and opinion and
recommendation. Initiative-Systematic Performance Evaluation (I-SPE) will
assist to provide an improved decision-making solution to the panels /
evaluators / assessors during the evaluation process. Furthermore, I=SPE will
be able to improve decision-making efficiency that will lead to fairness in
selecting the best candidate. It can be applied in any other programs or
organizations that involve uncertainty and subjectivity in decision-making. The
“if then rules” developed in this model system are based on human judgement
and perception and there are five selected criteria considered in this
evaluation which includes leadership, communication, teamwork, discipline
and CGPA. |
