Abstract |
The increasing demand for convenience foods is irresistible, particularly in an
on-the-go world. The easy-cooking food product is not only relevant to
modern cuisine, yet it can also be used to improve the marketability of local
and native ethnic dish like Pansuh. Realizing such potential, ready to cook
Pansuh Mix is derived and developed using local and natural ingredients. This
gives a unique identity to Sarawak indigenous food that poses many health
benefits. The Pansuh Mix can be used to prepare the Pansuh dish in a short
amount of time. The mix are created into coarse powder form, where the use
of bamboo as the traditional method of cooking the dish is no longer needed,
in line with the United Nation Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No 2 i.e.
to ensure sustainable food production systems by 2030. With this product,
native ethnic dishes can conveniently be prepared in a heated pot, preferably
a clay pot; for soup or even steamed dishes. The product necessitates the
survival of the native ethnic Pansuh dish, which is normally cooked and eaten
fresh. It also adds to the novelty of bringing native ethnic food to the next
level; promoting Malaysia’s local food particularly the state of Sarawak
through innovative food processing technology, longer shelf life, quality
packaging, labelling, branding, and encouraging SMEs to participate in local
food industry. This product has the potential and is ready to be
commercialized at both national and international levels. The product is
pending copyright approval from MyIPO.
