Abstract |
In the recent years, the gamification and game-based learning (GBL) has
slowly gained traction in being incorporated into the education system.
Various modified pedagogical frameworks based on these two concepts
have been proposed in an effort to innovate improve students’ motivation
and engagement in the classroom. From which, numerous applications and
game platforms have been developed to assist educators to design and
implement creative and innovative teaching approaches. However, most of
the GBLs are focused on primary education and are limited to a certain
cognitive domain of evaluation. Here, we introduce the G-Ez GBL developed
using open source software, GDEVELOPE by Florian Rival. G-Ez is used to
enrich teaching pedagogy approaches which applicable for interactive
lectures, assessments and evaluations. Designed GBL framework covers up
to four levels of cognitive levels which are knowledge (C1), comprehensive
(C2), application (C3) and discussion or analysis (C4). The concept of G-Ez
encourages exploration, increase mesmerizing capabilities and improves
student engagement in a target course or classroom. The G-Ez framework
applies an explorative concept that rewards exploration and creative thinking
during gameplay. With smart and fun game environment will enhanced
students’ memory thus memorizing become easier. Furthermore, the game
play mechanics was also designed to train students to retain information.
Due to customizable nature of the G-Ez design. It is highly adaptable to
various learning courses |
