Project Title Langgir Treament Shampoo
Project Category Innovation
Abstract Langgir Treatment Shampoo, produced from an indigenous fruit, Buah Langgir (Xanthophyllum amoenum), is a natural remedy effective in the treatment of dandruff. Dandruff are white flakes of dead skin cells combined with hair oil and aggravated by yeast-like fungus malassaezia or pityrosprum common in scalp, which can become problematic causing itchiness due to hormone imbalances, stress, immune suppression, infrequent shampooing, illness or increased oil production. Current shampoos for treatment contain ingredients of chemical compounds from both natural extracts and synthetic additives. Langgir Treatment Shampoo, filtrate of smoked dried Langgir fruit rinds contains relatively high zinc and copper which are antifungal agents without synthetic additives. The soapy and bubbly lather from its natural saponin content not only treats dandruff but maintains the glossiness of hair. The commercial production of Langgir Treatment Shampoo will increase the demand of Buah Langgir currently with limited market value therefore generate income to the local community.
