| Abstract |
Octopus Tepid Sponging Towel is a new product uses non-invasive nursing
procedure to reduce high body temperature above 38 degrees Celsius. It
helps to reduce the high heat of body through heat loss by conduction,
convection, radiation and evaporation of water from the skin (Casey, 2000). It
is different from traditional drugs administration such as antipyretic, and anti
inflammatory and antibiotic for control of infection process with high fever
(Thompson & Kagan, 2010). The innovation is motivated by the problem
faced in Sarawak General Hospital where there is no tepid sponging towel
provided. At most of the time, pillow case, baby napkin and big gauze being
utilized. The product aims to produce standard tool for nursing procedure
(tepid sponging) which is user friendly, easy to manage and maintain because
it came in one set. Octopus tepid sponging towel has great potential for
commercialize in local and international market for individually and healthcare
center as there is high awareness that high temperature may cause major
complication to the nervous system and multi organ failure (Faulds &
Meekings, 2013). |
