The wastes generated by health care activities are considered hazardous
materials that may be infectious or toxic and potentially can infect hospital
patients, health workers, and the general public. Thus, this Collapsible Waste
Bag Holder can be used as a receptacle and holder for any dressing or
procedure trolley to hold clinical waste in the hospital as an initiative to
prevent contamination of the hospital environment. The model of the current
trolley is not equipped with proper disposal receptacles for clinical waste
during any nursing or medical procedures. The present practice is using clips
or plasters to hang the clinical waste plastic bags at the side of the dressing
trolley which is not durable to support the load of the plastic bags. The
Collapsible Waste Bag Holder is made of soft steel which features a 40.5 cm
length, 38 cm height, 22 cm width (40.5x38x22cm) with two adjustable hinges
which are stacked at a height of 13 mm and 17 mm respectively with an
opening of 86° mounted to the present commercialized dressing trolley. It is
able to hold about 2.5 Kg of wastes. The hinges allow closure or retraction of
the holder when not in use to save space. The Collapsible Waste Bag Holder
is lined with the yellow clinical waste plastic bag. This holder is ergonomic in
nature and has the potential for commercialization. |
