Abstract |
Basic principle of this research is to decrease the level of ammonium ion in leachate by using biological treatment system. Sewage based bacteria is impregnated to bio-based bacteria media and then installed in the ammonia stripper column for the treatment. Bacterial activity produces enzyme that is suitable for stripping of the ammonia from the leachate. This results in reduction of organic matter and releases ammonium in form of ammonia gas. The gas is then channelled to the sulphuric acid column to produce ammonium sulphate which can be used as a liquid fertilizer. Novelty of this research is the introduction of sewage based bacteria and impregnation method applied.
