Abstract Mobile user interface (UI) design is an essential in the mobile apps development process. A mix method will be used throughout this research by using 'localization' to obtain the user's mental model pattern based on user's expectation. Moreover, the qualitative and quantitative data will be collected through an eye-tracking technology. The mental model theory can assist the mobile apps developers to design a greater UI. This study will explain how the mental model theory is being used in interface design practices for a mobile apps development. The expected outcome of this research is to develop a user's mental model pattern by gender, guideline and supported by analysis of the eye-tracking technology towards an effective mobile apps to satisfy the users. Therefore, a good user interaction between the user and an app will increase the popularity of those mobile apps.
