| Abstract |
Teaching methods have evolved from conventional to modern approaches
such that include mobile learning which is highly applicable for teaching
languages. I-Iban is a mobile application developed for learning Iban
language; one of the most spoken languages in Sarawak. Currently, there is
no locally produced mobile application to introduce this language to non-
native speakers. This mobile application serves as a repository for Iban
language that can be used to promote and preserve the language among
younger generations. It is an interactive mobile application which includes
multimedia elements such as audio, text, and images. It consists of three
modules; vocabulary, dictionary and conversations, which incorporates
pronunciations and spellings that will enrich their vocabularies and phrases. I-
Iban is the first mobile application that is used to teach a native language. It
can be used in classrooms for teaching Iban, in schools that offer Iban
language. It can also be utilized for self-learning. |
