| Abstract |
Learning Mandarin and learning to write Mandarin characters are always
challenging for beginner learners especially for children who are just in their
early stage to recognize words or non-Chinese learners. These learners
usually find it frustrating when writing Mandarin characters according to its
order correctly. Thus, many of them are demotivated to continue learning
Mandarin as a whole. Hanzi Swype Learning (HSL) application is indeed an
innovation that promotes self-directed learning. It mainly focuses on
teaching learners to write basic Mandarin characters and allowing them to
enjoy practicing the complicated strokes of the characters in order to
achieve the accuracy and proficiency of vocabulary learning in Mandarin at
anywhere and anytime convenient to them. Comes in bilanguage of
Mandarin and English, the application also enables them to make meaning
across on the words via the given definition, pinyin, pronunciation, the fun
fact on the orthographic structure of the basic Mandarin characters, and its
usage in other context. Therefore, in general, this one stop application is not
only providing them a simplified platform to master writing Mandarin
characters correctly but it also assisting them to acquire Mandarin
characters hassle free. |
