Abstract |
Children nowadays have a full toy box but only play with a selected few. The toys are fun for a while but pretty soon they become too predictable and get tossed aside, especially those that only do a small and limited number of things. This results in boredom and children do not like to be bored. Thus, they find something else to play with and the boring toys end up in the bottom of the toy box. Pic-zzle is about reusing old toys to teach toddlers grammar, spelling and vocabulary in English. A classic wooded picture puzzle can be transformed into a meaningful and interactive educational tool that stimulates learner’s cognitive and psychomotor skills. The learning activities with Pic-zzle helps children consolidate their sensory, perceptive and motor skill, stimulating them to discover the world around them and learn English at the same time. Cognitive learning knowledge such as remembering names of objects, matching things that are the same and remembering previously learned information is taught while learners move the wooden blocks around. With pic-zzle, playtime is transformed into meaningful learning. |
