Abstract |
Rainbow dye is natural dye made from the peels of beetroot and mango;
leaves of pandan and inai. It is a potential colour enhancer from natural
sources. This product can increase the aesthetic value of clothes and
colourings. As it is made from the waste of the peel of fruits and leaves
vegetables, this will help to reduce the waste and turns the wastes to wealth.
This dyeing product is extracted from maceration with warm water and
methanol which do not use much water and any corrosive chemicals in the
production. In addition, it do not produce any hazardous chemical discharge
compared to the synthetic dyeing industry. Therefore, there is less water
consumption and chemical risk that would promote green environment.
Furthermore, this product drived from natural sources will increase the
comercialization values to the peels of fruits or leaves of vegetables. Thus,
Rainbow dye has great potential to be marketed in the dyeing industry, as
well as to contribute toward the Malaysia’s Economic Transformation
program to produce high income nation. |
