Project Title | SELF-ABSORBENT OIL WASTE |
Project Category | Innovation |
Abstract | Uncontrolled oil waste may result in significant level of hazardous emissions to the environment. In order to minimize this negative impact, proper management of waste oil is crucial. The prototype “Self-absorbent oil waste†is proposed to tackle the problem. The prototype uses composite material that consists of human hair and polypropthelen (sponge) to absorb oil waste from the surface of river. It is found that the rate of absorption is higher by using the proposed method compared to conventional method that using human hair alone. The newly proposed prototype benefits both government and private sector as it promotes green environment. It is a cost effective product as the materials are mainly consisting of recycle material which is cheap and easy to find. |
