Abstract |
Maths Scrabble for Fun is a mathematics scrabble game that allow children
to practise dealing with numbers and mathematics symbols. This game is
ideal for ages 7+ children. Maths Scrabble for Fun is different from the
existing scrabble such that it involves wider mathematics symbols like
square, square root, decimals, percentages and fractions. The object of this
game is to get the most points by forming mathematics equations on a
board that connect to those created by fellow players. Critical thinking can
be taught through Maths Scrabble for Fun. Pearson has developed RED
Model-Recognize Assumptions, Evaluate Arguments, and Draw Conclusions
as a way to view and apply critical thinking principles when faced with a
decision. Through Maths Scrabble for Fun, children are trained to recognize
their ideas and assumptions that support their strategy; then they analyze
their strategy objectively and accurately. Finally, they bring diverse strategies
together to arrive at conclusions that follow from solid evidence, which is the
equation that they form to score higher marks. Children are able to enhance
their number sense and build up experiences with number and mathematics
symbols through repeated practice of number theory. In return, it helps to
improve their calculations and build up their confidence when dealing with
mathematics subject in examination. |
