| Abstract |
ScaleVar-Dis (scale of variable – discrete) is a teaching innovation that
provides discretion on discrete variable. Learners always face problem to
write the correct sign of inequality together with the value of variable when
finding the cumulative probability in two general situations: (i) when rule of
complementary event is used, and (ii) when adjusting the sign of inequality
and the value of the variable in order to read the probability from a
cumulative probability distribution table. This problem is critical in the
discrete variable as the signs of inequality with equal and without equal give
totally different meanings. The main goal of the introduction of the ScaleVar-
Dis is to make learners visualize the discretion of discrete variable. It aims to
correct the general misconceptions of students and their difficulty in the
problems mentioned above. |
