Traditionally, farmers break the cocoa pod to remove the bean by using
machete or hitting two pods together. However, these methods tend to
damage the beans inside and lead to poor quality of cocoa bean. Poor
quality cocoa bean may decrease the price and grade of the beans. The
idea of Handy Cocoa Pod (Handy-Pod) Breakers will overcome these
problems and simultaneously will increase the income and economic status
of the grower. The special features of Hand-Pod Breakers are in the form of metal with blade in the middle to cut the pod without damaging the beans
inside. This product is easy to use and handle. The blade is also kept
inside the frame. The advantages of the product are ability to break different
sizes of pods without damaging the beans and the ease in removing the
beans from the pods. This product is marketable especially to cocoa
growers, researchers or anyone since the product is portable and light. |
