| Abstract |
Tropic Filter is a water treatment system based on simple filtration system
using coconut fiber and rice husk ash as the main media. The filter media
contains high fiber, protein and some functional groups. This filter will
remove turbidity, bacteriological content and polishing the water through the
process of adsorption. The distinct advantage of the Tropic Filter is the filter
media is abundant and commonly found in rural areas. Besides, this filter is
adopting waste to wealth concept by transforming agricultural wastes into a
beneficial and marketable product. The invented water treatment system
has a great potential for isolated and remotely located small communities. In
terms of value, Tropic Filter will increase the quality of life of the village
communities by providing clean and safe water supplies. In addition, it has a
bright potential to be commercialized due to its cost-effective and low
maintenance characteristics. |
