Abstract |
i-CaWaQI is an application developed using theoretical algorithm model to
automatically produce Water Quality Index (WQI), a numerical indicator of
water quality at a certain location and time based on several water quality
parameters. It can be used for public usage, academic or research
institutions and local authorities. The model is able to simplify the tedious
work to identify WQI which is usually done manually and need to refer to
standards. With this application, the user only need to key in the required
data including the Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Suspended Solids (SS) and pH
value. It gives advantage as the WQI can be analyzed in no time. The
interface of the model and also the presentation of results are also simple
and easy to understand even for a new user. Besides, additional function of
this model is that it will provide information on how to treat the water based
on their WQI result. i-CaWaQI will be very beneficial especially to our
country, Malaysia which uses most of our water resources from a river.
Rivers are already part of our life here and we need to ensure the river
quality to be maintained properly to achieve sustainable environment. The
quality of water that we have will have implications towards our daily living
style, as well as our nation's business and economic development. We
strongly believe that this application has a high potential in
commercialization due to its capability to analyze for WQI while improving
the way we manage our water resources. |
