Abstract	Pineapple Harvester is an agricultural tool to ease the harvesting of pineapple, Ananas sp. The conventional method employs workers using machete and the collected fruits are placed in baskets. In this way, the workers’ safety are at risk and fruit injury/damage/bruising is frequent if the machete is wrongly handled. The relatively short shelf-life of the fresh pineapple fruits requires them to be immediately transported in large bins to the cannery to maintain the fruit quality. Fruit bruising and fruit spoilage as a result of rough handling can lead to poor quality fruit. To reduce the losses in quality and recovery, all received fruits should be processed within 24 hours after harvesting. During harvesting, the workers have to bend thus creating back pain, and their hands are easily injured by the sharp pines. These slow down the harvesting process. The pineapple harvester emphasises workers’ safety and minimisation of fruit damage. It is easy to operate, economic, light, practical, efficient, and it reduces the time taken for harvesting individual fruit. It can be used in large scale commercial agricultural industries to small scale, private business or smallholder pineapple orchards.
