Abstract |
In the world of computing, applications play an important role in development
and enhancement of computing technology. The development of application is
a vital criterion in managing and organizing a conventional method of
documenting. Currently, the application for internship placement for students
in Building Department of Universiti Teknologi MARA (Sarawak) is managed
manually. The current practice involves various processes that required the
students to meet the coordinator together with detailing on the intended
practical company. Subsequently, the coordinator has to key in all the data
manually into the computer for the preparation of the application letter to the
selected companies. This current practice is not only inefficient due the time
consumed by both parties, students and coordinator, further, the paper-based
application form requires the coordinator time allocation due to the absence of
proper centralized system. The suggested online system not only allow the
student to fill up their details and the selected company for their internship
session, yet the coordinator will be able to retrieve details of student's
application and hence can provide instantaneous application letter and enable
the monitoring system for visitation stage at the end of their internship
session. This system will be known as Online Internship Application (OIA)
System. This online system is accessible on any computer limited to UiTM's
local area network (Intranet) so that the stored data are useful for future
references and practice. The Waterfall Model is a basic process model used
for the development of the system, which includes the phases of Conception,
Initiation, Analysis, Design, Construction, Testing, Production/Implementation
and Maintenance. The implementation of OIA in the Building Department of
Universiti Teknologi MARA (Sarawak) will centralize all related task required
to manage the application of practical training. |
