Abstract |
This classroom board game was created
to help students enhance their grasp
of the use of adjectives. A game sheet
was created instead of using a board
to be more practical and to be more
user-friendly. This board game
provided the opportunity for all the
students in the class to think and
provide the correct spelling of
adjectives. It provided a platform for
students to cooperate and to learn how
to use adjectives in a fun manner.
This game comprised four players and
they played the game according to the
number sequence, 1 to 4. Player number
1 started by writing an adjective on
the game sheet at the place marked
with a ‘Star’. Following that, the
other players took their turn
accordingly. Each player was given one
minute to come up with an adjective
and failure to do so would mean
missing a turn. Each player played
five rounds. It was found that
students were alert throughout the
board game activity. They learnt how
to differentiate between adjectives
and the other parts of speech.
Moreover, they also learnt time-
management as they had to keep to the
time-limit of the game. The creation
of this classroom board game activity
is useful to help students to improve
and raise the standard of their parts
of speech (especially, adjectives) in
a fun and non-threatening environment. |
