Project Title Talun Bark Beaded Bookmark
Project Category Innovation
Abstract The talun bark is a local material in Sarawak used by various ethnics in Sarawak especially the Lun Bawang Community in Lawas to produce crafts. This bookmark is produced using the original talun tree bark processed by locals. Beads are sewn on it to form a local fern, ‘paku pakis’. One can also feel the original texture of the tree bark. It is also enviromentally friendly. Not only readers, tourists can also buy it as presents for friends. This ‘Talun Bark Beaded Bookmark’ has a great potential for commercialization and it would be a positive impact on the Sarawak tourism and handicraft industry as it will help to diversify and develop the Sarawak handicraft industry.
