Abstract |
The Bidayuh people are avid weavers. They are well known for their baskets. However, they have never produced basket quivers. A quiver is a container for archers to keep arrows. This quiver can be attached to the belt for archers to reach the arrows easily or as a back quiver which they can sling over their shoulder. This unique quiver can be used by Sarawak State Archers when they go for competition. Active hunters can use it when they go hunting. Tourists can buy it for friends in their home country. Sarawakians can also buy it as a gift for their foreign and West Malaysian friends. This ‘Bidayuh Basket Quiver’ would have a positive impact on the Sarawak tourism and handicraft industry as it will be able to add on to the range of Sarawak handicraft products and to further develop the handicraft industry. There is also great potential for commerciallization.
