Project Title Oguong Sibling (OS)
Project Category Innovation
Abstract Oguong Sibling (OS) is a handicraft made from recycled paper such as old newspapers and magazines. The rolling and assembling technique of the recycled paper makes this craft unique which makes it looks glamourous and elegant as if made of wood, bamboo or rattan. Although OS is produced from recycled paper rolls, it is durable and designed to withstand water splashes and humidity as waterproofing material is applied on its surface. OS is suitable for decoration and souvenirs that showcase the Borneo’s native musical instrument. It can be used as a 'trademark' of local produce. Product cost is low and it has high potential for commercialization. The making of this craft is suitable to be taught to the disabled and housewives. It helps them to be economically self-sufficient. In addition, this craft responds to the world’s green policy to save the earth.
