Project Title ILF2C: Ideal Loose Fruits Collector & Cleaner
Project Category Innovation
Abstract Loose fruits collection is one of critical issues in oil palm plantation industry. The great decline of oil extraction rate (OER) is due to the continuous failure of loose collection about 3 – 5% of bunch weight. Therefore, various techniques have been introduced to overcome the problem. Currently, hand picking and sweeping of those loose fruits are still being practised in the field but some limitations such as safety, trash/debris issues and laborious. Due to these limitations, the Ideal LF Collector & Cleaner (ILF2C) has been invented to overcome one of the challenges in the oil palm industry. This model is designed to suit all types of field conditions. The mechanisms of collection are sweeping the loose fruits into sieve case and retaining loose fruits without being tedious. It is manually operated, ergonomic, light, and affordable. This innovation will improve the loose fruits collection task which is strenuous and eliminate back pain of the workers. More than that, both quantity and quality of the loose fruit would be higher without any debris or trashes. As a result, this will increase oil extraction rate at the mill. ILF2C has high cmmercialization potential due to the growth of oil palm industry in the world and the needs of effective loose fruit collector. This product is categorized as green technology innovation.
