Project Title | CHC Paper: Coconut Husk Craft Paper |
Project Category | Innovation |
Abstract | Coconut is an all year round fruiting plant which gives unlimited supply of unused husk each time the fruit is processed. The abundance of wasted husk is cheap and readily available to be processed as a raw material to produce craft papers. The coconut husk has to be soaked and boiled in saline solution to soften the husk. The soft husk is then bleached and grinded to produce pulp. Binding agent is mixed together with the pulp in order to form a thin layer of craft paper. This product has high aesthetic values to produce unique hand crafts. Moreover, it can also reduce the total dependency towards trees to create paper based products. Coconut Husk Craft Paper can be alternative material to produce hand craft products. This product can be categorized as green technology innovation. |
