Encouraging breastfeeding of our young is one of the most important health measures we can take. Breast milk has disease-fighting antibodies that can help protect infants from several types of illnesses. It was reported that mothers who breastfeed have a lower risk of some health problems, including breast cancer and type 2 diabetes. Lactation is a healthy function of the postnatal female body; it benefits the woman and provides the child with the only known perfect food for human and potential cost saving. The World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nation for Children Fund (UNICEF) consistently work towards the goal of increasing breastfeeding rates and duration among mothers. Based on traditional knowledge, Nephrolepis acutifolia (Paku Pakis) is used during confinement as it can increase milk production and for its high fibre content. Development of a process of producing Galactagogue-Nephrolepis acutifolia (G-NA) to help increase lactating activity for nursing mothers from wild jungle plant abundantly found in many countries including Malaysia. G-NA comes as Packed Wet Product, Packed Dried Product, Powder and Capsules. The capsule is made from vegetable and certified halal, which is safe and readily consumable. |
