Project Title Dragon Fruit Peel Jam

Abstract Originating from the dragon fruit peel, the reason for its selection is due to the commercial potential it has in the global market. The peel of the fruit is utilised to produce jam, whilst its fruit is fried with "bread crumbs" to produce other delicious food. This product is currently unavailable in the market. The benefits of having this product are: it can reduce waste from the peels, increase the agro products segments, add consumer's choices and create oppurtunities to the agro-based industry. Hence, this will encourage dragon fruit plantation activities nationwide. Further advantages of this product are: it has not been produced before by others, easy production, suitable consumption for the society, can be produced in mass or in small scale, varieties of flavours can be added to enhance the taste and it can be afforded by everyone.
