Sembong leaves (Blumea bolsamifera) is scientifically reported to contain antiseptics compounds. They are commonly used in the Southeast Asia region as traditional medication. One of the traditional applications is as shower therapy during confinement period. This is to produce a refreshing effect, reduce body pain and odour. But, normal traditional practice of boiling dried sembong leaves for shower therapy is not convenient due to residual leaves. Therefore, soap with sembong essence is more practical for modern use. This product uses sembong essence as the main active ingredient with serai wangi (Cymbopogon nardus) to produce aromatherapy effect and as insect repellent. The impact of our product to the society is in terms of commercial plantation of sembong which currently grew wild in wasteland. The product has the potential to be utilized by consumers covering all ages for daily use. |
