The traditional use of 'Sandak' involves repeated diggings to obtain a shoot as planting material that is time consuming and labourious, resulting in shoot damage and back-ache to user. The objective is to innovate a tool to improve the efficiency. With the Smart Digger consisting of a concave blade and an adjustable handle, the user only needs to dig once in removing the shoot. The tool also has an attached cutter blade used only for shoot that is too close to the mother plant. Evaluation indicated significant time reduction in obtaining quality shoot, that is important in the agriculture industry. |
